Driveways, Sidewalks, and Staircases, Oh my!

Written by: Julie Keating

Fall is upon us, you can finally feel it in the air. As we say goodbye to smoldering humidity and horrendous heat, we say hello to falling leaves and the need for fall cleanup. Just as quickly as the summer came and went, the holidays will be here before we know it. Now is a perfect time to get your “spaces” cleaned up. Not only will you want your home to shine for guests and passersby alike; but you will also want things tidy for safety. These are reasons that you should call us before the holiday season sneaks up on you!

Halloween is on the Way

With fall comes Halloween. It is so much fun to see little children all dressed up in costumes. It is important, however, to remember that you have an obligation to ensure that people who are on your premises are protected and safe. When you allow dirt, debris, and grime to sit on your pathways unaddressed, it can lead to slippery and dangerous conditions. Before you welcome strangers and hand out candy at your front door, make sure that you have done all you can to protect trick or treaters, and yourself, by cleaning things up.

Reducing Staining

Concrete is definitely an upgrade for your home or property. Although it is one of the most durable and low-maintenance materials you can choose, that does not mean it requires no maintenance. Concrete washing is necessary to reduce the risk of permanent stains from dirt and debris. It is also critical to keep your concrete walkway, sidewalks, and staircases from becoming slick and causing a hazard. It is always best to be safe rather than sorry!

Don’t Forget to Re-Stain

Fall is a great time to attend to home maintenance like staining and cleaning decks and fences. Before you stain them, however, you have to make sure that the surface is cleaned and washed. The cleaner the surface is, the better the stain will absorb and penetrate the wood so that it seals out the winter weather that’s to come. Pressure washing is the best way to ensure your wooden areas are prepared correctly for staining and sealing.

House Washing

Not only is fall a great time to attend to your walkways, driveway, and wood surfaces, but it’s also an excellent time to wash the exterior of your home. Regular soft washing of your home or commercial building can help extend the life of your exterior materials. By removing dirt, grime, mildew, and mold, you can reduce the risk of rotten fascia and soffit wood. An ounce of prevention goes a long way for home maintenance.

Gutter Washing

Although we typically think of spring showers, the fall has some pretty stormy weather too. If it’s been a while since you have had your gutters cleaned, now is the time! If you allow dirt, debris, and grime to build in your gutters, they can’t do what they are designed to. Also, if you let debris sit over the long fall and winter months, you increase the risk of damage from the weight of dirt sitting damp and unattended.

Fall didn’t quite sneak up on most of us; we welcome the cool down. The holidays, however, will. If you want to get a jump start on your home maintenance to be ready for the festivities, now is the perfect time to schedule your pressure washing and soft washing appointment in Aiken. That way, your home will be sparkling, safe, and ready for the seasons ahead.
